The union is also requesting that the corresponding pay adjustment be made retroactive to January 1, 2026. The request follows a review of the position by the union, department management, and staff. That review confirmed that the existing job description does not fully reflect the level of work currently being performed. The position independently administers countywide Developmental Disabilities services, manages grants and provider contracts, monitors program expenditures and reimbursements, ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, evaluates program outcomes, and coordinates long-range service planning. These responsibilities are comparable in scope and accountability to other program coordinator positions within Public Health & Social Services. The department has no opposition to the requested reclassification. Updating the job description and pay grade would accurately recognize the work already assigned to the position and improve consistency between comparable program coordinator classifications within the department. The request does not create a new position, add staffing, or expand the Developmental Disabilities program. Fiscal Impact The one-time retroactive adjustment through July 15, 2026, is estimated at $836.36, consisting of $727.32 in salary and $109.04 in employer-paid benefits. Beginning July 16, 2026, the estimated ongoing increase is $65.76 per pay period, or $1,578.22 annually, including salary and employer-paid benefits. All retroactive and on going costs will be paid from Developmental Disabilites specific, non-general fund revenues. Requested Board Action Approve the revised Developmental Disabilities Programs Coordinator job description, reclassify the position from Pay Grade 120 to Pay Grade 121, and authorize placement of the incumbent on the Grade 121 salary range, with the resulting adjustment retroactive to January 1, 2026, in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement and County compensation practices.
