Approving a motorist information sign program BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS LEWIS COUNTY, WASHINGTON IN THE MATTER OF: } Approving a Motorist Informational Sign } program and associated fees for placement } Resolution No. 15- "L� of commercial wayfinding signs on county } rights of way. } WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners supports the growth of commercial businesses and tourism in Lewis County; and WHEREAS, RCW 47.36.300 allows for local governments to erect directional signage for motorist services businesses qualified for motorist information sign panels and charge appropriate fees for such signage; and WHEREAS, application approval shall be granted by the Public Works Department and a fee of $250.00 per directional sign or as approved on the most current fee schedule and shall be paid prior to installation; and WHEREAS, Lewis County forces will install Motorist Informational Signs in the county rights of way at the applicant's expense. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that, Lewis County hereby establishes a Motorist Informational Sign program for the erection of directional signage on County rights of way at the applicant's expense of $250 per sign or as approved on the most current fee schedule. All signs and installations shall be approved by Lewis County Public Works and meet the requirements of RCW 47.36.300. DONE in open session this 5th day of October 2015. Motorist Information Directional guide signs must be purchased for commercial use at cost of$250 or as approved in the current fee schedule per sign location. 2.) When installed, signs will be designed consistent with Washington State Department of Transportation(WSDOT) and/or MUTCD standards for motorist information signs. 3.) Signs will be permitted between the nearest freeway interchange and the site of the requesting business; and when WSDOT permits such signing for the business on the freeway, unless otherwise authorized. 4.) Motorist information signs will be maintained by Lewis County at the expense of the applicant.
