Final contract voucher certification for the 2017 Rock Proposal Project BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF LEWIS COUNTY, WASHINGTON IN THE MATTER OF: } Approve a final contract voucher certificate for the } Resolution No. 18- 0`7'1 2017 Rock Proposal project } WHEREAS, Resolution 17-062 awarded a portion of the 2017 Rock Proposal Project to Sterling Breen Crushing for the amount of $400,826.70, for the production of chip rock and snow sand for varies county stockpiles; and WHEREAS, Sterling Breen provided a bid quote for an option to haul at the time of the bid opening in case the county was not able to haul the material; and WHEREAS, unanticipated emergent maintenance work interfered with the county forces ability to haul the chip rock and snow sand; and WHEREAS, Sterling Breen was willing to haul the chip rock and snow sand for the bid prices provided in the original bid; and WHEREAS, the hauling increased the bid award by $196,248.61; and WHEREAS, as per Resolution No. 11-437, changes greater than $150,000.00 are required to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the final contract voucher certificate for Sterling Breen, Inc. for the 2017 Rock Proposal Project in the amount of $597,075.31 is hereby approved by the Board of County Commissioners and the Assistant County Engineer and Public Works Director are authorized to sign the Final Contract Voucher Certificate. It was anticipated at the time of award that County Forces would provide trucking of the material to the stockpiles. A bid price for hauling was provided by Sterling Breen,however, it was not calculated into the bid award price. Unanticipated emergent maintenance work interfered with the county forces ability to haul the chip rock and snow sand and Sterling Breen was willing to haul the material for the bid prices provided in the original bid. Their bid quote was used for payment calculations which increased their final contract amount by$196,248.61. Any changes more than $150,000 above the original contract amount need to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners(BOCC).
