Description
The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is in concurrence with the decision of the Lewis County Director
of Community Development and the Fire Marshal regarding whether or not to impose outdoor burning
restrictions throughout unincorporated Lewis County.
Ratification of a resolution to restrict outdoor burning is recommended by the Fire Marshal. This determination
is based on the judgement of the Fire Marshal, as well as a review of fire-hazard conditions, current weather
conditions and moisture readings.
The recommendation is to enact outdoor burning restrictions to commence at 12:01 am on July 1, 2018.
Once conditions indicate that restrictions on outdoor burning are no longer appropriate, the Fire Marshal will
recommend to the BOCC that the restrictions be lifted. At that time the BOCC would ratify their decision by
resolution.
The Community Development Department will make every effort necessary to keep the public, county fire
control agencies and the Southwest Clean Air Agency apprised of the local outdoor burning status.
