Expansion of Mass Transit Benefit District BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF LEWIS COUNTY, WASHINGTON RE: EXPANSION OF MASS TRANSIT ) BENEFIT DISTRICT ) RESOLUTION 18-230 Pursuant to RCW 36.57A WHEREAS, pursuant to and in accordance with RCW 36.57A.020,the Board of County Commissioners of Lewis County convened a public transportation improvement conference on April 6, 2018,for the purpose of evaluating the need for and the desirability of the expansion of the public transit benefit area specifically within unincorporated Lewis County and the municipalities of Centralia, Chehalis, Morton, Mossyrock, Pe Ell,Toledo, Vader,Winlock,for the purpose of providing public transportation services within such and area; and WHEREAS, through a majority vote, it was determined that the public interest is best served through the expansion of the transit benefit district within Lewis County to provide a more comprehensive public transportation service which is conducive to the welfare and benefit of the persons and property therein; and WHEREAS, RCW 36.57A.060(2) authorizes the public transportation benefit area authority to develop funding requirements, including local tax sources, state and federal funds necessary to provide various levels of service within the area; WHEREAS, the public transportation improvement conference sanctioned, by majority vote, a resolution by the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners to submit to the electorate of the territory sought to be annexed a proposition authorizing the inclusion of the area within the public transportation benefit area and authorizing the imposition of such taxes authorized by law to be collected by the authority; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by mutual consent of the majority of public transportation improvement conference members, upon adoption of this Resolution, the Board of County Commissioners of Lewis County shall cause to put the matter before the voters in all newly incorporated benefit areas of Lewis County on the November 6, 2018, ballot, and if approved by a majority of persons voting thereon, shall be deemed sufficient for passage and implementation of the local sales tax of two-tenths percent (0.2%), pursuant to the terms of RCW 82.14.045, to become effective January 1, 2019. 1 r ) PASSED IN REGULAR SESSION THIS SIXTEENTH DAY OF JULY,2018.
