Description
The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is in concurrence with the decision of the Director of Lewis
County Community Development and the Fire Marshal regarding the modification of burn restrictions on all
lands regulated by Lewis County
Modification of a resolution is recommended by the Fire Marshal This determination is based on the
judgement of the Fire Marshal, as well as a review of fire-hazard conditions, current and anticipated weather
conditions and moisture readings
This recommendation is to enact outdoor burning restrictions on all lands regulated by Lewis County effective
12 01 am on May 9, 2019 Burn permits are no longer valid at that time Camp fires in approved receptacles
are allowed
Citizens within city limits or urban growth areas (UGAs) are encouraged to contact that jurisdiction for
additional restrictions, if any
Once conditions indicate that restrictions on outdoor burning are no longer appropriate, the Fire Marshal will
recommend to the BOCC that the restrictions be lifted At that time the BOCC would ratify their decision by
resolution
The Community Development Department will make every effort necessary to keep the public, county fire
control agencies and the Southwest Clean Air Agency apprised of the local outdoor burning status
