GALLON
It takes about 6 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of wine, though figures vary by winery
Water is on everybody's mind these days We all know it's a precious resource and one that we
must conserve in our homes, in our vineyards and in our businesses For wineries, where
cleaning and sanitation are mission-critical and non-negotiable, it's tough to rationalize using
less We don't want to compromise cleanliness (and therefore quality), so coming up with ways
to use less water in the winery can seem like a daunting task
The below tips and tricks are not a universal checklist for every winemaker, as we all have

RE. HR 1629 SAVES act
To Whom It May Concern,
Please consider this letter of support for HR 1629 The 911 Supporting Accurate Views of
Services — SAVES Act
Lewis County Fire District S is a small rural fire department with a call volume of over 1200 calls
annually As a fire district we know the number of calls we are dispatched to — and understand
that number to be a fraction of the calls received at our local 911 call center Calls received at
our local 9-1-1 Center are received by telecommunicators who are expected to have an answer
or information for every caller — after gaining information needed to dispatch law, fire, rescue,
or aid As firefighters/EMS providers, we often have a moment to consider what tools we will
need and if we need additional help based upon the quality of the information provided to the
dispatcher We also have the benefit of SEEING the result of what occurred, where dispatchers
are left to paint the picture of what has occurred internally This consistent phone
rings/someone needs help is played out over and over on every shift This means that
dispatchers must be in a constant state of readiness for whatever is needed as soon as the
phone rings Dispatchers work in a consistently hyper-vigilant state — throughout their shift
The result is often physically and mentally exhausting
If you work in a rural area, there is a good chance something bad will happen to someone a
dispatcher may know—while dispatching emergency calls There is a good chance something
bad will happen to one of the first responders that dispatchers worry about as they respond to
calls for service There is a 100 percent certainty that dispatchers are expected to keep on
working and doing the expected job with that additional stress, worry, and secondary trauma
Dispatchers listen keenly for every sound to try and keep the public and first responders safe
Dispatchers work tirelessly to get the best information they can scavenge from multiple
systems Dispatchers scan multiple radio frequencies, dispatch and call take, and provide
lifesaving instruction to callers A great deal of expectation is encompassed in our ideas of what
dispatchers are supposed to accomplish They can and often facilitate better outcomes for calls
by providing lifesaving instructions prior to other first responder arrival on scene The toll of
the calls and what they hear is irrefutable Affording a better classification will align emergency
dispatchers with similar work groups and make the SOC more accurate Additionally, this step
will assist this work group to gain further benefit for their public safety work efforts
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter
Respectfully,
i
