LEWIS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, mental and substance use disorders, including co occurring disorders, affect all communities
nationwide, but with commitment and support, people with these disorders can achieve healthy lifestyles
and lead rewarding lives in recovery, and
WHEREAS, by seeking help, people who experience mental and substance NATIONAL
use disorders and co-occurring disorders can embark on a new path toward RECOVERY
improved health and overall wellness, and MONTH 2019
WHEREAS, this year's National Recovery Month celebrates those
individuals'journeys with the theme, "Join the Voices for Recovery Together We Are Stronger,"which
spreads the message that treatment is effective and that people can and do recover every day, and
WHEREAS, these disorders affect our entire community, as an estimated one in four people has a loved one
or acquaintance affected by these conditions in Lewis County, and
WHEREAS, National Recovery Month increases awareness helping people to recognize the signs of mental
and substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders while also encouraging those in need of treatment
and recovery services to seek help, and
WHEREAS, managing the effects of these conditions helps individuals achieve healthy lifestyles, both
physically and emotionally, and
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners hereby
proclaims September 2019 as National Recovery Month in Lewis County and calls upon the community to
observe this month with programs and events that support this year's observance, which marks the 30th
anniversary of the National Recovery Month observance
