Commissioner Stamper made a motion to add the following to the agenda for the day’s legislative
meeting:
• Resolution to appoint Lee Grose to the Lewis County Planning Commission
• Resolution to list the bids received and contractor selected for the Middle Fork culvert project
• Resolution to approve an administrative settlement for the Lakey parcel on North Fork
• Public hearing informing the public of Community Development Block Grant General Purpose
Grant opportunities
Commissioner Fund seconded.
Motion passed 3-0.
The group noted that the call for sealed bids for the Highway Safety Improvement Program had held.
The commissioners reviewed applications for the Fire 17 vacancy.
Commissioner Stamper said he would speak to Dennis Day about the Fire 17 vacancy.
Commissioner Jackson said he would make calls regarding the Cemetery 9 and PFD vacancies.
Commissioner Jackson said he feels members of the public should be using the public comment period
instead of Good of the Order and that the Good of the Order should be reserved for the commissioners.
Commissioner Stamper suggested limiting all comments to 3 minutes and then possibly limit the Good
of the Order to county business later.
Commissioner Fund discussed the Olympia Master Builders’ recent meeting. She said there is talk of
having the port take over the Chehalis airport. She said the large grocery distribution center is having a
hard time filling jobs.
Commissioner Fund gave a brief update on matters before the Legislature. She said she would be
testifying during the vaping hearing later in the day.
The commissioners reviewed the White Pass Country Historical request for Historic Preservation
funding. Becky Butler reviewed the RCW governing the funding. The group noted that new chairs may
not qualify for funding.
Commissioner Stamper made a motion to provide the White Pass Country Historical Historic
Preservation funding totaling $6,000.
Commissioner Fund seconded.
Lee Grose said he would put together a funding summary for the restoration of the building at
LaWisWis.
Motion passed 3-0.
Erik Martin suggested listing calendars as a topic on Wrap Up and the County Manager update agendas.
The commissioners approved a request for funding for food expenditures for an upcoming Landlord
Mitigation Fund meeting.
Fred Wilson joined at 9:38 a.m.
Commissioner Jackson left at 9:41 a.m.
Commissioner Fund and Commissioner Stamper reviewed their calendars. Commissioner Fund noted
she may miss the code enforcement meeting later in the day.
