2019-05-29 Directors UpdateDirectors’ Update May 29, 2019 9 a.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, County Manager Erik Martin, Lee Napier, Danette York, Tawni Shepherd, Becky Butler, Steve Wohld, Gary Fredricks, Lara McRea, Steve Walton Guest: Susan DeLaire Recorder: Rieva Lester Commissioner Jackson discussed a proclamation recognizing Lewis County’s valedictorians and salutatorians. The group discussed a call for bids for a new Total Station and Data Collector for the Public Works Survey Division Danette York discussed a resolution to approve contract amendment B between Lewis County and the Housing Resource Center. Tawni Shepherd discussed a resolution to implement a Lewis County Accident Prevention Plan. The group discussed a resolution to approve an interlocal agreement between Lewis County and City of Centralia regarding work by county crews and authorizing signatures thereon. Lee Napier discussed a resolution to approve Ordinance No. 1302, which would renew the moratorium upon certain building permits within the boundaries of Water-Sewer District #5. Commissioner Stamper made a motion to move one Presentation, one Notice item, two Consent items, three Deliberation items and one Hearing to the Monday, June 3, 2019, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Fund seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Rieva Lester said there may be two late additions: a proclamation honoring the Adna fastpitch team and a proclamation honoring the Adna Boys Track team. Roundtable Steve Walton said union negotiations are taking place. Steve Wohld said IT is working on 2020 rates. He said the county’s email is having troubles. Becky Butler said the county has not been collecting enough to cover general liability costs. She said there will be a mid-year increase to self-insurance rates. He said workers comp costs may help offset some of those increases. She said the higher-risk offices and departments will be hit harder. Steve Wohld left at 9:29 a.m. Gary Fredricks said the recent Dairy Days event was a success. He said he will attend the East County Chamber meeting later in the day to discussed community-supported agriculture (CSAs). Tawni Shepherd said heat-related illness training is taking place. The group discussed the need for broadcast mics for the hearing room. Danette York asked that concerns or comments be directed to her and/or J.P. Anderson. Erik Martin said he is working on a team to review strategic planning proposals. Commissioner Stamper discussed internet connectivity. Commissioner Fund said she would be visiting lodging tax recipients May 30. She discussed Centralia’s work on a possible pool. Meeting ended at 9:59 a.m.
