2019-06-24 Coroner UpdateCoroner Update June 24, 2019 3:31 p.m. Present: Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Warren McLeod, Becky Butler Guest: Dr. Lindsey Pollock Recorder: Rieva Lester Warren McLeod provided the following year-to-date statistics: 402 total cases, including four homicides, seven suicides, 13 accidentals, three pending, four undetermineds and one agency assist. Warren said Thurston County did not receive the same opioid public records request (PRR) as Lewis County did. He said Cowlitz, Grant, Grays Harbor and Yakima counties all received PRRs about opioids. He said the following is surrounding counties’ expected timeframes for responding to the opioid PRR: • Cowlitz County: Two years using two FTEs for limited hours per week • Grant County: One year using one FTE for limited hours per week • Grays Harbor County: Not working on it • Yakima County: Three years devoting 1-2 hours a week Becky Butler noted the PRR may have been only sent to the counties that opted in for the opioid lawsuit. Warren said the Lewis County has been awarded a Coverdell grant totaling $4,245 for alternate light- source kits. Warren said he would discuss the PRR further in a future meeting.
