With only Commissioner Fund in attendance, the meeting was not a quorum meeting.
Becky Butler outlined the goals and purpose of the Citizens Budget Committee.
Becky gave an overview of the budget process, including the dates of the all-day budget meetings and
the Legislative Roundtable.
Rieva Lester gave a brief overview of the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA) and the Public Records Act
(PRA).
Becky said she will be setting up tours of Juvenile, 911 and other offices and departments. She discussed
unfunded mandates, such as indigent defense, and PILT and Secure Rural Schools funding.
Erik Martin discussed unfunded mandates, including mandates regarding fish passages.
Becky gave a brief overview of the budget increase requests the various offices and departments
submitted. She then provided a summary of revenues and expenditures.
The group discussed public records requests, the county’s Strategic Planning efforts, the Salary
Commission and the county’s 13 bargaining agreements.
