Allyn Roe gave an update regarding the Industrial Park at TransAlta (IPAT).
Allyn said a proposal was given to a large manufacturer. He said the local site was the lone site still being
considered in the state. He said the Economic Development Council (EDC), Centralia College, the PUD
and TransAlta helped. Allyn said the potential developer didn’t like the timeline presented. However, he
said, facility construction could have begun next summer if the project had moved forward in phases. He
said the potential client ultimately decided instead to look at building where foreign work force could be
used.
Allyn discussed the RES America wind farm project on Weyerhaeuser land. He said it would have little
effect on IPAT.
Commissioner Jackson left at 2:26 p.m. and returned at 2:29 p.m.
Allyn said he would like to have the site shovel-ready.
