2018-03-13 Update with Central ServicesUpdate with Central Services March 13, 2018 2:34 p.m. Present: Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Steve Walton, Tamara Hayes, Isaac Freeman, Commissioner Fund (2:56 p.m.) Recorder: Rieva Lester Steve Walton said the fiscal remodel likely will be completed by April 1. He said the Family Support relocation timeline may hinge on the state. Steve suggested moving WSU to the James building. Steve suggested abandoning the idea of using the Assessor’s Office storage space. Commissioner Stamper and Commissioner Jackson agreed. Steve said “train the trainer” Munis sessions kicked off earlier in the day. He said June 1 is the “go-live date” for accounts payable. Tamara Hayes said the cold weather shelter will open again March 14. She said the group expects to be done using the facility by April 1. Commissioner Jackson asked Tamara to coordinate with Candy Hallom to set up a cold weather shelter wrap-up meeting with the Bethel church. Tamara said the City of Chehalis and City of Centralia are supportive of the possible annexation of the fairgrounds. She said the City of Chehalis gets a portion of the $11,000 in sales tax for that area. Tamara said the majority of the key entertainment acts have signed contracts to perform. She said she also is working on sponsorships. Commissioner Fund joined at 2:56 p.m. Tamara said the Read and Win program will return for 2018. Tamara said the first Garlic Fest meeting was held the previous week. She said the next meeting will take place in three weeks. She said she wants a nonprofit to host a wine-tasting event. Tamara said the barn dance is set for June 16. Tamara said Sertoma would like to sell hard alcohol during the fair. All three commissioners said they were fine with that. Tamara said she would next discuss it with the Sheriff’s Office. Tamara said the Discover Lewis County transition has gone smoothly. TO-DO LIST / RECAP Tamara: Coordinate with Candy Hallom to set up a cold weather shelter wrap-up meeting with the Bethel church. Isaac Freeman gave a recap of DLC web visitors. He said most traffic goes to the events page. Commissioner Fund asked for updates every other month. Commissioner Stamper discussed hang-gliding at Dog Mountain as well as WATV riders. Isaac discussed SCA races, events, content submissions. Commissioner Jackson left at 3:21 p.m. Isaac said he is beginning a loaner program for DLC canvas art. Commissioner Jackson returned at 3:24 p.m. Isaac said he is considering guest blog posts. He said his plan is to provide 12 of his own and several guest blogs. He said the ultimate goal is to have guest posts increase. Isaac said he would like to team up with businesses on sponsorships, such as a video on peaks you can drive to. He said he also is working on the Farm Guide, which is being increased size-wise. Meeting ended at 3:29 p.m.
