Commissioner Fund discussed Pacific Mountain (PacMtn) Workforce Development’s presentation on High Impact Community Grants. Notice items Erik Martin discussed a resolution to acquire additional road right of way for North Fork Road, Chehalis. He said a couple is not interested in negotiating. He said the resolution would initiate imminent domain process. He said the property owners have roughly 115 acres and the acquisition would be for roughly half an acre. Erik Martin discussed a resolution to accept an offer on tax title property located off Coal Creek Road, Chehalis. Deliberation items Commissioner Stamper discussed a resolution outlining designations and related appointments with the Washington Counties Risk Pool. Erik Martin discussed the proposed acquisition of additional right of way for Stover Road, Packwood. Commissioner Jackson made a motion to move two (2) Presentation items, two (2) Notice items, two (2) Consent items and two (2) Deliberation items to the Monday, March 19, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Stamper seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Steve Mansfield said work on a contract continues. He said background investigations are proving helpful in the hiring process. Lee Napier discussed a late add for Monday: A Memorandum of Understanding for the Skookumchuck Wind Energy Facility Proposal. Erik Martin said he will have a few positions open. Danette York said she will have a position to fill as well. Linda Williams joined at 9:23 a.m. Steve Wohld said a going-away party for Mitch Guthrie is planned for March 16. He reminded the group to fill out IT forms – and alert Facilities for prox cards – when employees leave. Becky Butler said Budget amendment requests are due March 16. Steve Walton said the training room should be ready April 1. Archie Smith discussed gathering data for employee orientation as well as the possibility of a peer mentor program. Commissioner Stamper left at 9:30 a.m. Commissioner Fund thanked those involved in the cleanup of the former Bonagofski property on Reynolds Road. Erik Martin said 800 tons of garbage was hauled off. Commissioner Stamper returned at 9:32 a.m. Danette York said Bill Teitzel suggested honoring those who volunteered at the site, including Waste Management and Sutter Steel. Erik said the City of Centralia also deserves recognition. The group discussed pairing it with a slideshow presentation. Commissioner Jackson left at 9:36 a.m. and returned at 9:37 a.m. Commissioner Fund discussed meeting with TransAlta on March 13. She said TransAlta plans to create a large solar project at the site of the former coal mine in Thurston County. Commissioner Fund discussed news that the one-day ride stop was being moved from Centralia College to the park in Chehalis. Commissioner Fund said Women’s History Night is planned for March 15 at the Third Thursday event in Centralia. Commissioner Jackson left at 9:47 a.m. Lee Napier discussed the pending retirements of Larry Mason and Cheryl McGee. Meeting ended at 9:51 a.m.
