Coroner Warren McLeod gave the following updates:
Budget update:
Indigent: Four indigent cremations are being carried over from 2017, and there are three new ones so
far for 2018.
Drowning grant: Balance of $1,560 is revenue.
Year-to-date statistics: 0 homicides, five suicides, two accidentals, one undetermined, nine pending,
two agency assists, one department assist, one public assist, 17 autopsies, and six external views.
Pathologist update: One pathologist has resigned. Warren said the county’s other pathologist has
agreed to take on additional cases but that the county will need to hire someone to cover vacations, etc.
Warren said the PA’s office has agreed to pay the upfront costs for the June Dig Class, which is expected
to generate $3,500 in revenue. He said a four- or five-day class will be offered in September.
