Steve Mansfield said three individuals have been hired in 911.
He said labor negotiations are moving forward.
Steve said the first ILA meeting is planned for March 30. Steve
said funding for communication infrastructure needs to be
addressed. He said a lot of equipment needs to be replaced,
including equipment at the radio sites. He said the overhaul
will cost $2 million to $4 million. He discussed the need for an infrastructure study and a 911 operations
study.
Steve discussed the possibility of a one-tenth of 1 percent tax.
Commissioner Jackson said there was no intent to have a transit tax compete with a possible emergency
services tax.
Steve asked if the commissioners wanted to wait on the emergency services request. Steve discussed
the steps he has been taking to address the future needs of emergency services.
Steve said the risk is that the county would be on the hook for the infrastructure rebuild if voters don’t
support funding the project.
Steve said he can wait until the following year if needed. He asked for direction.
Commissioner Jackson said the countywide transit measure would need to move forward in 2018
because the east end will lose service in 2019.
Janelle Kambich, Becky Butler and Jonathan Meyer joined at 10:27 a.m.
