2018-03-27 Update with IT
Meeting Date: 3/27/18 At 1:32 pm – End 2:25 Location: Lewis County Commissioner Meeting Room
IT Director’s Monthly Update – Wohld, Smith, Commissioners Fund, and Jackson.
• General Steve discussed some IT security concerns and how new IT roles are needed with the evolution of IT over the past number of years. Steve
proposed no additional FTEs, but some shuffling of the deck internally to accommodate the functions needed.
• Take Gabe’s ITS 4 position as a developer and delete it.
• Create a new Security Analyst position and utilize the deleted developer funds to cover most of it. Gabe would be appointed to this new position.
• Reorganize the Spillman Admin position, remove some service to e911 and
reduce their charges proportionately. Nate would remain in this reorged position
with more responsibilities.
• Add additional security auditing and assessing functions to Matt Jaeger’s position.
Steve told the Board that this would likely increase the salary portion of his budget at least $12k, but that he intended to absorb these increases for 2018 in the existing IT budget. This increase would be noticed in 2019 and beyond.
The Board instructed HR and IT to proceed to the next step in this process and get
Budget in the loop for final numbers. We would regroup for a final decision in hopefully two weeks, with Commissioner Stamper present. The suggestion was to make this effective April 1.
• Technology Services
Steve gave brief updates on the training room progress, security awareness campaign,
and virus conditions.
• Spillman Services Steve discussed the staffing adjustments in relation to Spillman support, and a brief update on the patch today.
• Development Services
Steve discussed the new Garlic Fest website and showed a demo of it – All three SWWF sites up and running for review. Steve said that a new timeline was being discussed for PacketWriter – digital signatures.
