Adult Drug Court
The Drug Court manager Stephanie Miller began the meeting explaining the deficit. They discussed how
the housing for Drug Court was acquired during the original budget summary which is why it was
originally left out. Additionally, there has been an increase in participants, increasing costs for things
such as drug testing and medical treatment costs.
Commissioner Stamper asked for clarification on the incoming money for the CJTA. Judge Toynbee
discussed how the CJTA (Criminal Justice Treatment Account) was designed to return funds back to drug
courts because they are easing the burden to the criminal justice system but the BHO (Behavioral Health
Organization) has implemented a medical necessity to receive the funds creating a barrier.
Commissioner Jackson asked what the total dollar amount that is being requested is.
Stephanie said the total $45,300 -$36,000 is for participant treatment.
Commissioner Jackson said he would like to see what the BHO is doing first.
Becky Butler clarified the money is from the 1/10 of 1% sales tax not the general fund.
Family Recovery Court (Therapeutic Court)
Asking for a $11,000 increase. 7 participants with 11 children.
This court does not have CJTA funding available because it is not mandated.
