2018-04-10 Update with Central ServicesUpdate with Central Services April 10, 2018 3:12 p.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Steve Walton, Commissioner Stamper (3:16 p.m.), Becky Butler (3:39 p.m.) Archie Smith (3:39 p.m.) Recorder: Rieva Lester Steve Walton said the Family Support room should be move-in ready by May 1. He also discussed work on the James Building, and he said work on the training room also is complete. Commissioner Stamper joined at 3:16 p.m. Steve said WSU work may be put on hold to accommodate work in the hearing room. Steve discussed creating a temporary location for Rachel to use when the new Risk Manager starts. Steve said Doug Carey is working on plans for the BOCC / Budget remodel. Steve gave updates on the following CFP projects: • Hearing room: Parts ordered. • Packwood property: Steve said the county was awarded a 50 percent match state grant that Tim Elsea had applied for when he was with Public Works. Commissioner Stamper said there is a Tacoma Power grant available. Steve urged the board not to take on another park. Commissioner Stamper discussed giving the property to the Packwood group. Commissioner Stamper said he doesn’t want to sell the property. • Star complex: Steve said the CFP is moving forward with an RFQ. • PA’s Office: Steve said work to accommodate ITAs may need to be contracted out. • Jail booking: Steve said the CFP recommended the BOCC approved up to $10,000 for the jail remodel. Commissioner Jackson made a motion to approve up to $10,000 for improvements at the jail booking area. Commissioner Stamper seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Steve said the cold weather shelter “debriefing” will be held April 11. Steve said the county’s annexation request is on the Centralia City Council’s agenda for April 10. Becky Butler and Archie Smith joined at 3:39 p.m. Steve discussed recent events held at the fairgrounds, including a model train show. Steve said it appears DLC has secured a Port of Seattle grant for marketing. Steve said he met with the BOCC staff April 9 to discuss his expectations. Meeting ended at 3:47 p.m.
