2018-07-11 Meeting with PAMeeting with PA’s Office July 11, 2018 4:51 p.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Becky Butler, Daleyn Coleman, Janelle Kambich, Jonathan Meyer, Erik Martin (4:54 p.m.) Recorder: Rieva Lester Jonathan Meyer said moving pay for civil on par with pay for the criminal side would cost roughly $41,000 annually. He said he didn’t think it would impact criminal. Erik Martin joined at 4:54 p.m. Jonathan said he wants approval to add two felony DPAs, an admin and a paralegal. Commissioner Fund left at 5:02 p.m. and returned at 5:04 p.m. Becky Butler clarified that there is one vacant funded position on the civil side. Jonathan said he would try to absorb it for 2018 but would want it funded for 2019. Commissioner Fund suggested using HR as a resource in an effort to save money and resources. Becky asked if Jonathan and the sheriff have considered the public safety tax. He said he would not support the new tax. Jonathan discussed the money the county spends on the fair and Discover Lewis County. Commissioner Jackson said he would be willing to look at a DPA III and a senior paralegal, along with the increase for civil. The group discussed the immediate need the PA’s Office faces. Commissioner Fund suggested re-advertising the position and continuing the discussion July 16. Commissioner Jackson left at 5:25 p.m. The group further discussed the budget requests. Becky discussed the impact adding to the PA’s Office and Sheriff’s Office would have on the budget. Commissioner Stamper made a motion to add a deputy criminal prosecuting attorney III and a senior paralegal as well as bring the civil deputy prosecutors to the level of the criminal deputy prosecutors. Commissioner Fund seconded. Commissioner Fund suggested using HR to help advertise positions. Motion passed 2-0. Meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
