Warren McLeod said the Coroner’s Office is on track with budget, aside from indigent cremations. He
said there have been nine indigent cremations year to date with two more pending. He said indigent
cremations cost $500 apiece.
Warren said there have been 470 deaths year to date. Following is the breakdown: three homicides, 10
suicides, seven accidental deaths, two undetermineds, 17 pending, two public assists, two agency assists
and two department assists.
Warren said the mortuary will honor its bid for decedent removals. He said the cost is $270 per removal.
Warren said that if Lewis County did its own decedent removals, the upstart would cost $127,400,
including operating costs of $45,000.
Warren said Casey Peters is working with the Drowning Prevention Coalition to target schoolkids.
