Unfunded mandates discussed: Federal and state agencies do not have to pay for weed control

Becky Butler said RCW requires that the county have a weed control program. She explained Bill
Wamsley’s role as program coordinator.
Becky said the county will hold a hearing Oct. 22 to discuss a possible tax assessment to combat noxious
weeds.
Commissioner Fund noted that federal and state agencies cannot be required to pay for weed control.
