• General Discuss cyber security.
1 click this week. It was reported immediately to IT Staff, and resolved quickly.
SAO is offering free cyber security audits of our infrastructure. They are booked out 24+ months.
Looking into a system for internal cyber security testing/training.
Some of the area shops may be able to connect to VPN’s for more secure internet access.
Discuss network solutions.
Security rack project wrapping up.
Configuring switches to prevent port jumping. However, this does not work for large departments.
Firewall needs an upgrade. We are looking into products like Cisco and Barracuda.
CJIS data encryption needs reviewed to prevent our data from being compromised. Unsure of what the cost will be at this time.
Most agencies have moved or are moving to Microsoft 365. We may need to be looking at migrating towards Microsoft 365 within the next two years.
Licensing for Microsoft 365 could double in cost from what we currently pay.
We hope to roll out Microsoft Office 2019 in 2019.
Nate is working with the Assessor’s Office to test a GPS tracking system. Discuss staffing.
Discussed possible re-org of duties to allow for additional cyber security coverage.
In the event of a re-org it may be necessary to promote an ITS 2 to an ITS 3.
• Technology Services
General discussion
Working on wrapping up deployments by the end of the year.
CJIS Audit is scheduled for April 2020.
CJIS requires 2-factor authentication. Working to ensure full compliance.
• Spillman Services General discussion
Spillman will likely be moving to the cloud in the next couple of years with the Jail. So
we’re looking into what that will entail.
• Development Services
General discussion
Flood site is approved. Waiting on additional info from Community Development.
There was a request for some enhancements to the Burn Permits app. Due to limited staffing we are unable to fulfill this request.
Packet writer is progressing, but we are waiting to hear back on additional info.
• Budget General discussion
Considering incorporating access points into our ER&R fees. Follow Up
Lara suggested we take pictures of what needs to be unplugged when a computer has been infected and email out to the users. Also, what to do if a user is on the Wi-Fi.
Lara suggested to Steve that IT could put on a “safety meeting” that would include a key person from each department and allow them to bring questions to us so we know what the departments need from us to help prevent future attacks.
