2018-12-04 Update with BudgetUpdate with Budget December 4, 2018 3:04 p.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, County Manager Erik Martin, Budget Services Manager Becky Butler Recorder: Rieva Lester Becky Butler said Ross Petersen is working on an MOU regarding the Noxious Weed Ordinance and plans to have it completed before he leaves at the end of the week. Becky said indigent defense may need an additional $100,000 for 2018. The group noted that two murder trials have affected the time and amount needed for indigent defense. Becky said timber revenue will total roughly $1.05 million for 2018. Becky said general liability insurance rates may need to be increased mid-year in 2019. Becky said she would draft a memo regarding the new positions previously approved for 2019. Commissioner Jackson left at 3:25 p.m. and returned at 3:27 p.m. Becky discussed creating a priority list for 2019 and to include conversations and plans in place if cuts are needed. The group also discussed updating the county’s reduction in force – or at least seniority – lists. Becky cautioned that the Fair may need another transfer. The group discussed retirement incentives.
