Rieva Lester discussed the Vendor Publication resolution.
Josh Metcalf discussed a Request for Proposals (RFP) for PS&E Engineering Services for the Townsend
MP 0.22 Bridge Replacement Project.
Josh Metcalf and Steve Mansfield discussed a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to complete a
communications infrastructure planning document focused on fire and law enforcement services and
updating ADCOMM Communication studies completed in 2004 and 2005.
Becky Butler discussed an agreement between Lewis County and Washington State Office of Public
Defense for Public Defense Improvement Funds.
Commissioner Fund discussed the election of the BOCC Chair and Vice Chair for 2019.
Becky Butler discussed the an Interlocal Agreement for use of Jail Facilities between the Lewis County
Sheriff's Office/ County and the Thurston County Sheriff's Office/County. The group noted that the rate
appears to be unchanged from that of the previous year. Becky Butler said she would follow up with the
Sheriff’s Office about the rate.
Danette York discussed Contract Amendment #2 between Washington State Health Care Authority and
Lewis County.
Wayne Whiton discussed a resolution to defend and indemnify Sheriff Robert Snaza pursuant to
Resolutions 03-042 and 04-164.
Josh Metcalf discussed a resolution approving the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) Chair to sign
the Project Agreement between Lewis County and the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) for the
MF Newaukum Fish Passage - Site ID 021 (94001) (15790).
Commissioner Jackson made a motion to move three Notice items, two Consent items, and six
Deliberation items to the Monday, Dec. 10, BOCC agenda.
Commissioner Fund seconded the motion.
Motion passed 2-0.
Roundtable
Steve Mansfield discussed disaster preparedness.
Erik Martin reminded the group to be fiscally conservative. Archie noted that seven contracts will be
open to renegotiations beginning in summer 2019.
Lee Napier said Community Development will close early Dec. 31 to allow for maintenance.
Danette York said offices will be closed Dec. 6 for an all-member staff meeting followed by a holiday
party. She also said someone donated $30,000 toward a new animal shelter building.
Josh Metcalf said a decision on NLCIA‘s $500,000 build grant is expected the following week.
Wayne Whiton discussed a recent Risk conference.
Steve Wohld said he can add banners announcing upcoming closures to the home page. He said a big
maintenance project is planned for the weekend.
Becky Butler said general liability rates for 2019 may have to be adjusted due to Risk rates. She
reminded the group that the budget amendment hearing is set for Dec. 17. She and Archie Smith said
paid FMLA also will begin hitting budgets and employees’ checks in January.
Steve Walton said KMB Architecture will be on site Dec. 6.
Archie said L and I is looking at its own salary exemption process.
Commissioner Jackson left at 10:01 a.m.
Commissioner Fund invited the group to the Dec. 7 Mayors’ Meeting.
