2017-01-18 Directors UpdateDirectors Update January 18, 2017 9:10 a.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Lee Napier, Bill Teitzel, Erik Martin, Steve Wohld, Steve Walton, Carma Oaksmith, Archie Smith, Becky Butler, Sheila Gray, Paulette Young (who joined at 9:21 a.m.) Guests: Harry Bhagwandin, Aaron Kunkler, Susan DeLaire Recorder: Rieva Lester Erik Martin discussed a call for bids. He said eight bays would be added. Erik discussed a notice for a franchise for Northwest Open Access Network. Commissioner Fund discussed a Civil Service Commission appointment. Commissioner Fund discussed an AAA appointment. Sheila Gray discussed an MOA with Washington State University. Bill Teitzel discussed an agreement for meal reimbursements. Bill Teitzel discussed removing item No. 8, which David Fine indicated would not require a resolution. Erik Martin discussed an Oyler Road acquisition. Becky Butler discussed a hearing for the fifth Amendment for Current Expense and other funds. Lee Napier discussed the marijuana moratorium hearing. Commissioner Fund made a motion to move two (2) Notice, six (6) Consent and two (2) Hearings to the Jan. 23 BOCC agenda. Commissioner Jackson seconded the motion. Motion approved 3-0. Roundtable Lee Napier invited the group to check out the new look in Community Development’s lobby. She said customers seem to appreciate the new Point & Pay payment option. She said permit numbers are down for January, but she said it appears to be because contractors are booked out for six months. Bill Teitzel invited the group to Project Homeless Connect. Steve Wohld said IT is working on Microsoft licenses. Becky Butler said Budget likely will post for their vacancy within the month. She urged the group to alert her to any budget changes by Friday. Sheila Gray said 4-H Know Your Government delegates will hold a bingo fundraiser over the weekend. Susan DeLaire gave Steve Wohld accolades for IT’s fantastic LTAC presentation. She said she also has heard what a joy Carma Oaksmith is to work with. Harry Bhagwandin said Air BnBs increased from $8,000 in 2014 to $39,000 last year. He attributed that to Discover Lewis County. Steve Wohld directed the group to the Lewis County Rivers page. Commissioner Jackson said he visited Pe Ell on Jan. 17. Commissioner Fund said she attended the Lewis County Farms and Forestry group on Jan. 18. Commissioner Stamper said the commissioners would be available to the media – or anyone else – after each BOCC meeting. He said the intent of the press conference is to allow questions to be asked when all commissioners are present. The commissioners said it would be taped. Becky Butler said there was frustration at the Napavine City Council meeting, during which citizens’ questions were ignored and citizens were removed from the meeting. Meeting ended at 9:55 a.m.
