Steve Mansfield said he will create a notebook outlining the roles of Emergency Management so the
commissioners can have the information at their fingertips in the event of a disaster or emergency.
Program status: Steve said the county needs a director of emergency management. He clarified that he
is a manager, not a director.
Emergency management and the City of Centralia: Steve said he would like to leave the agreement
with the City of Centralia. He said he wants to let Centralia know what the city actually is responsible for.
Commissioner Fund said Bob Berg knew about the requirements. Commissioner Stamper talked about
the response to Hurricane Katrina. Commissioner Jackson asked about an emergency action plan.
Steve talked about the various EOC levels and what they mean to the BOCC.
Changes to WAC 118-30: The changes may make it difficult to meet requirements for a certified
emergency management program.
Retirement benefits issue and directorship of Emergency Management: Steve said he wanted to
discuss his contract. He said retirement was part of his original package. Since he cannot receive it as
retirement, Steve he would like to have it in an alternative form.
Steve asked for Commissioner Jackson’s cell number and email address. He also said Commissioner
Jackson needs to sign up for the county’s opt-in alert line, Lewis County Alert.
