2017-02-13 Update with FairUpdate with Fair February 13, 2017 Attendees: Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Stamper, Steve Walton, Tamara Hayes, Pat Slusher, Becky Butler Recorder: Rachel Hunt Meeting start-3:07 p.m. The group started with discussion about flooding at the fairgrounds. The discussion transitioned to entertainment at the fair for the upcoming year. Tamara said they are focusing on things that stay within their budget, with the possibility of doing a friends of the fair for future sponsorship. Pat Slusher discussed entrainment for the 2017 fair. Discussion moved to which night of week the rodeo will be on. Tamara added another possibility of entertainment show during the fair. Tamara asked for a transfer of funds for $80,000. Additionally, there was a brief discussion on ways to improve tracking tickets sales. Commissioner Fund left the meeting at 3:26 Commissioner Jackson mentioned a conversation with gentleman who thinks the fair is over commercialized. He added even though this was a thought he believes the fair should still explore sponsorships. Pat Slusher mentioned that several fairs around Washington get LTAC money. Discussion ensued about other surrounding fairs using tribute bands. Commissioner Jackson asked for another outline of the funds being requested. Tamara replied they are asking for $50,000 for entertainment. Commissioner Jackson briefly stepped out of the meeting at 3:58 and returned 4:01p.m. Becky asked if there was anything in the contracts if the entertainment cancels. Steve Walton asked when the money is needed. Discussion moved to the Garlic Festival. Tamara discussed the contract with Butler Amusements. Commissioner Stamper asked about kiosks and screens at the fair. Commissioner Jackson left at 4:12. Commissioner Stamper asked if there were any changes planned for the opening ceremonies. Meeting ended at 4:31.
