2017-03-01 Directors UpdateDirectors’ Update March 1, 2017 9:18 a.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund (by phone), Commissioner Jackson, Lee Napier, Danette York, Paulette Young, Steve Wohld, Steve Mansfield, Steve Walton, Carma Oaksmith, Archie Smith, Sheila Gray, Erik Martin Guests: Aaron Kunkler Recorder: Rieva Lester The group discussed items for the BOCC agenda. Commissioner Fund joined the meeting in person at 9:28 a.m. The group continued discussing items for the BOCC agenda. Commissioner Jackson made a motion to move three (3) Consent items, and two (2) Hearings to the Monday, March 6, 2017, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Fund seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Roundtable Lee Napier gave a brief update on the Hirst decision. Erik Martin discussed the previous day’s meeting regarding North Lewis County Industrial Access. He said the $55-ish million earmarked in the Legislature includes money for the North Lewis County project. Erik also said he has interviews scheduled for next week. He said posting job openings on Facebook proved beneficial. Danette York echoed Erik’s sentiments about posting job openings on Facebook. She also asked about Bridge. Paulette Young discussed a certificate of insurance to be filed. She asked that anyone who receives a physically delivered Public Disclosure Requests to have the receiver stamp AND initial it. Steve Mansfield said the county is in the middle of a storm assessment for the state. He said the county has tallied roughly $1.2 million. He said the state will be on site on March 6 to verify claims. He said damages may be high enough for an emergency to be declared at the presidential level. He also said a grant audit is taking place. Carma Oaksmith said year-end continues. She said Fiscal has two upcoming audits. Sheila Gray said there are many gardening events planned for Saturday. Commissioner Fund gave an update about a Heritage Caucus meeting she attended the morning of March 1. She said the courthouse is listed as No. 2 out of 14. However, school bonds could usurp it. Commissioner Jackson said he will be in Walla Walla next week. He discussed the county’s mission statement and said he would resend his email that included the county’s mission statement. He commended Danette York for her work with Jerry Lord. Commissioner Stamper said he, Commissioner Fund, and Commissioner Jackson would be attending a meeting in Mossyrock on March 3 regarding the dam. Commissioner Fund discussed the artifacts left over from Kosmos. The group discussed the “Cold Case Files” episode about the Maurins. The episode will air March 6. Meeting ended at 10:03 a.m. Everyone except the commissioners, Steve Walton, Danette York, Paulette Young, Steve Wohld, Archie Smith, and Paulette Young left. Steve Walton and Steve Wohld left at 10:14 a.m. The commissioners and Danette York discussed a Board of Health item regarding an individual selling jerky who wants to begin selling salmon jerky. Danette said the individual wanted to request a waiver. The group said that would be a bad precedent to set. The group said it would not be allowed. Commissioner Jackson left at 10:21 a.m. Danette left at 10:23 a.m. Paulette Young discussed a public disclosure request. She also discussed a settlement request regarding another public disclosure request. Daleyn Coleman joined the meeting at 10:24 a.m. Shad Hail joined the meeting at 10:24 a.m. Commissioner Jackson returned at 10:25 a.m. Judge Lawler joined at 10:28 a.m. Meeting ended at 10:31 a.m.
