The group discussed the request regarding tying Commissioner Tracy Mitchell’s salary to the judges’
salaries. Judge Lawler and Susie Parker said former Judge Brosey had indicated he wanted the tie to be
for the position, not the person.
Judge Lawler gave an overview of Tracy Mitchell’s duties.
Archie Smith joined the meeting at 4:12 p.m.
Archie said he contacted a handful of counties to get information about comparables. He said many of
them set hourly rates.
Commissioner Jackson said he didn’t feel he had enough information to feel comfortable enough to
make a decision one way or another.
Judge Lawler said the last raise took place in September 2016. He said his budget would have ample
room to absorb the cost.
Susie Parker said she would hesitate to use the HR numbers because it’s unclear whether those figures
reflected pro tem positions.
Susie Parker and Judge Lawler left at 4:21 p.m.
Becky Butler joined the meeting at 4:23 p.m.
The group discussed whether there would be any concerns regarding tying the position’s pay to the
judges’ salaries.
Becky suggested creating a memo to approve it.
Becky left at 4:43 p.m.
