2017-04-18 Central Services updateCentral Services update April 18, 2017 10:31 a.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Steve Walton Guest: Linda Williams (joined at 10:52 a.m.) Recorder: Rieva Lester Steve Walton gave the following updates: Finance system Static Environment Testing (SET) occurring this week. Communications Radio: Work is being done to identify the boundaries of property being looked at for temporary and perpetual easements. Facilities Health Building: Abatement delays may stall project a bit. Parks: First casual worker has begun cleanup work. Commissioner Stamper asked if work could be done on the east end parks. Schaefer Park roof: May require more work than anticipated because the substrate (car decking) is in bad shape. Grandstand roof: MDK construction visited site to give an estimate. Fairgrounds mowing: Weather has delayed mowing. Packwood site visit: Group is visiting area to tour Skate Creek area as well as possibly tour Mineral to check out that park. Lewis County Seniors: Commissioner Stamper said the Packwood Improvement Club would like to take over that building. He said a gentleman who hadn’t owned a restaurant before indicated he wants to open a restaurant at the site. Steve gave an update on the previous week’s Lewis County Seniors’ monthly meeting, during which the Lewis County Transition Team proposed merging with the Lewis County Seniors nonprofit group. The Lewis County Seniors voted 11-0 to merge with nonprofit group. Commissioner Fund said HB 1526 to give senior centers property tax relief appears to be passing. Twin Cities building: A walk-through is planned. Fair Meeting with Mark Bolender: Meeting planned for Thursday to discuss possible covered area for dining. Caretaker quarters: Andrew has moved out, but his duties remain the same. He had been paying $600 a month, so the county is losing a little bit of revenue. Steve said the manufactured home needs a little TLC. Other County Administrative / Management review: Commissioner Fund suggested giving the group an overview of Lewis County’s current structure and then ask the group to reach out to other counties to ask about the pros and cons about how other counties operate. Packwood airport: The group discussed the Packwood airport runway and hangars. Commissioner Fund asked if it would be feasible for the commissioners to volunteer to pressure wash or paint buildings. Commissioner Jackson left at 11:28 a.m., and Archie Smith joined the meeting at 11:28 a.m. The group discussed the attractions in Elby. Commissioner Stamper left at 11:39 a.m. At 11:39 a.m., the meeting was recessed until 1 p.m.
