The commissioners discussed work on an interlocal agreement (ILA) with the City of Chehalis.
Mark Giffey discussed the need for true deadlines to give tenants and clients. He discussed the need for
the client and the permit reviewer to have open communication.
Mark talked about the importance of a “can-do attitude” regarding permitting.
The group discussed the Growth Management Act (GMA) and past experiences with annexations as well
as work with the Corps of Engineers.
Mark said work with the Corps is holding up several opportunities at the port.
Mark discussed a biomedical group that has eyed the area. He said it would bring family-wage jobs to
retain talent locally.
Mark discussed his frustration about waste in government as a whole, and the group discussed the need
for Big Business to put capital back in the U.S. instead of sending it offshore.
The group discussed the Blue Ribbon Task Force, .09 funding, and two Chehalis schools (Cascade and
R.E. Bennett) that will be vacant after new schools are built.
Mark and Commissioner Jackson left at 9:51 a.m.
Commissioners Stamper and Fund discussed the previous day’s transportation meeting.
Commissioner Jackson returned at 9:58 a.m.
The group discussed the Fire and Ice Scenic Loop, naming rights, and medical marijuana.
Meeting ended at 10:16 a.m.
