2017-05-17 Directors UpdateDirectors’ Update May 17, 2017 9:22 a.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Erik Martin, Sandi Andrus, Paulette Young, Steve Wohld, Doug Carey, Carma Oaksmith, Archie Smith Recorder: Rieva Lester The group discussed a proclamation for WSU Master Gardener Week. Erik Martin discussed a notice for a Harmony Park franchise. Lee Napier discussed a notice for a public hearing to consider Countywide Planning Policies population allocation. Erik Martin discussed a contract for a culvert material purchase. Doug Carey discussed a contract award for the E911 roof. Commissioner Fund made a motion to move one (1) Proclamation, two (2) Notices, two (2) Consent items and two (2) deliberation items to the Monday, May 22, 2017, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Jackson seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Roundtable Sheila Gray said Kindergartener Dairy Day is taking place. She invited the group to Taste of the Market at Jeremy’s. She said a home and garden show is planned. She said the plant sale went well. She invited the group to two upcoming workshops. Carma Oaksmith said rates have been sent out and are due in June. She said Fiscal is hiring internally for payroll. She said another position will be open. Doug Carey said parks will open over the weekend. He discussed the new roof at Schaeffer Park. Sandi Andrus discussed a mandatory training for a staff member. Lee Napier gave a preview of the next day’s Flood Authority meeting. She said she will teach an ethics class May 18. Commissioner Jackson said Strategic Planning kicks off later in the day. He praised the county staff for their efforts. The group discussed Grays Harbor County’s tourism efforts as well as Lewis County’s. Commissioner Fund left at 9:54 a.m. The group discussed the changes to the agenda procedures. Archie Smith said he has asked Teamsters what they would like to discuss at the meeting they wanted to schedule. Paulette Young said a tort claim has been filed. Meeting ended at 9:58 a.m.
