Commissioner Stamper discussed a proclamation recognizing the 2A State Champion Chehalis Lady Bearcats
Fastpitch Team.
Commissioner Stamper discussed a proclamation recognizing the 2B State Champion Pe Ell-Willapa Valley Lady
Titans Fastpitch Team.
Meja Handlen discussed a resolution to approve a $151,574 contract with the Housing Resource Center to
extend the McKinney Program to April 2018.
Bill Wamsley discussed a resolution to approve an agreement with the USDA Forest Service, Gifford Pinchot
National Forest for noxious weed management. He said it would include care of roadsides, campgrounds, etc. He
said the funding pays for travel as well as the actual work.
Larry Unzelman discussed a resolution to approve the renewal of a lease with Riverside Fire Authority for the
use of a radio communications site at the Cooks Hill Road Fire Station. He said radio gear is stored there.
Larry Unzelman discussed a resolution regarding the proposed acquisition of additional right of way for
Streamside Drive and Lakeside Drive in Mossyrock. He said two parcels already have been acquired.
Lee Napier discussed a hearing regarding revisions to the Countywide Planning Policies population allocation.
Lee said the only change has to do with the 2040 population allocation.
Commissioner Jackson made a motion to move two (2) Proclamations, two (2) Consent items, four (4)
Deliberation items and one (1) Hearing to the Monday, June 12, 2017, BOCC agenda.
Commissioner Fund seconded the motion.
Motion passed 3-0.
Roundtable
Lee Napier said she would be attending the Packwood Business meeting.
Larry Unzelman gave a recap of Public Works projects, including Highway 603.
Commissioner Fund discussed the two-month window for chip sealing. Larry Unzelman said the weather
has to be a certain temperature to allow for that type of work.
Tawni Shepherd said it’s the busy time of the year for her office as construction season kicks off.
Steve Wohld said a Spillman patch is planned for Monday, June 12. He said to expect a 6- to 8-hour
outage.
Meja said Health and Social Services is actively recruiting a deputy director. She said the final session for
the community series is planned for the next week. She said an eVape class also is planned.
Steve Walton said budget amendments are due June 9 and that rates are due June 12. He said the roof
project is close to being completed. He said Carma Oaksmith is working hard to prepare for her
departure and that an open house is planned in her honor.
Sheila Gray said a Certified Farm Internship Project program is planned for June 8. She also discussed the
upcoming Red, White, Blue and You day camp for kids.
Commissioner Jackson said a Strategic Planning meeting is planned for June 8.
Commissioner Fund said farmers in the outlying areas say the farm brochure has led to calls and visits.
Commissioner Stamper said he attended the previous night’s VFW meeting. He said the group
appreciates how “veteran friendly” Lewis County is.
