2017-06-28 Directors UpdateDirectors’ Update June 28, 2017 9:05 a.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Steve Mansfield, Lee Napier, Meja Handlen, Steve Wohld, Becky Butler, Archie Smith, Erik Martin, Paulette Young (by phone and Skype) Guests: Susan DeLaire, Justyna Tomtas, and Linda Williams Recorder: Rieva Lester Erik Martin discussed listing the bids received and contractor selected for the Cinebar Bridge No. 204, CRP 2159H & Magnus Bridge No. 173, and CRP 2159I Scour Repair projects. Erik discussed an interlocal agreement with Toledo regarding work performed by county crews. Erik discussed a contract with Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments (CWCOG) for costs of transportation planning work performed. He said it covers part of Mike Kroll’s salary for planning services. Erik discussed listing the bids received and contractor selected for the Jackson Highway Rehabilitation Project, F.A. Project No. STPU-5667(004), CRP 2175D. Commissioner Jackson made a motion to move two (2) Consent items, four (4) Deliberation items, and one (1) bid opening to the Monday, July 3, 2017, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Fund seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Roundtable Lee Napier invited the group to the Packwood Airport dedication planned for July 2. Erik Martin said Public Works has a survey position open. Meja Handlen said Homeless Connect is planned for July 27. Paulette Young said she is working on rewriting county policy for PDRs. She said a hearing will be held July 24. Becky Butler said she’s working on budget spreadsheets. She said the BOCC is urging departments to find ways to save money. Becky asked for clarification about fire alarms that end mid-ring. The group said everyone must exit until an “all clear” is given. Commissioner Jackson discussed an abandoned cemetery off Roberts Road. Justyna Tomtas asked for clarification regarding COG. Erik said Lewis County is still working with COG on the planning component. Justyna then asked Paulette about any tort claims for dangerous dogs. Paulette said she would look into Justyna’s request. Erik said he would look into fleet mileage rates. Meeting ended at 9:48 a.m.
