2017-07-24 LTAC meetingLTAC meeting July 24, 2017 3:09 p.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, CJ Neer, Bonnie Blake, Larry Jones, Harry Bhagwandin Guests: Justyna Tomtas Recorder: Rieva Lester Commissioner Stamper asked if there was anything the LTAC volunteers want to change regarding the presentation process. The group discussed holding 5-minute presentations with 5-minute Q and As. The group also discussed forgoing the presentation process altogether and instead relying on the applications and follow-up questions. The group discussed OPMA requirements as well as adding all past applicants to a mailing list for notification about future applications. The group discussed the previous year’s scoring sheet and whether a scoring sheet would be a useful tool moving forward. Commissioner Fund discussed the need to focus on the following: • How the applicant’s event will draw tourists to all corners of the county. • How the applicant’s event will put “heads in beds.” • How the applicant will coordinate with other entities. • How the applicant will recognize Lewis County as an event sponsor. Commissioner Fund said one project up for 2017 funding is not taking place, so the $8,000 for that project likely could roll forward for use in 2018. Harry Bhagwandin asked an eligibility question regarding the City of Toledo’s application. Commissioner Fund said she didn’t believe it would be applicable because it would be solely for incorporated Toledo, which does not contribute to the county’s Lodging Tax fund. The group discussed the funding sources for the Lodging Tax. The group selected 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, as the date and time for the meeting to go over the applications. They chose to forgo the presentation process and instead to rely on the applications with follow-up questions. The group discussed sending a press release indicating the amount set aside for the museum overhead. Meeting ended at 4:03 p.m.
