Commissioner Jackson started the meeting with introductions.
John Kaino outlined the steps for plan renewal. The Board of Trustees will be meeting in August to
discuss rates.
John discussed how large group/claims affect the next year’s insurance rates. John continued to discuss
how low or high risk groups effect the rates as well.
John discussed how Lewis County group rates have the potential to increase for 2018.
Larry Grove discussed the history of rates for Lewis County.
Commissioner Jackson asked for further clarification about school district insurance plans due to the
new legislation.
Becky Butler asked about coordination of benefits in relation to reducing rates.
The group discussed composite rates.
John Kaino explained other options for insurance. He reiterated they will work with the County the best
way that they can.
The group discussed the percentage increases on plans in relation to how much the employer pays.
Archie Smith discussed the difficulty of location and provider options in the county.
John Kaino discussed the WCIF benefit summit.
John also discussed wellness program options.
Daleyn Coleman left the meeting at 2:39 p.m.
