2018 prelim budget
Revenue: $111,262, expenditures: $230,537; FTEs: 2
Paulette Young discussed how Lewis County is self-insured and participates in a risk pool with 27 other
counties.
Revenue review
Becky Butler outlined the revenue sources for Risk through rates based on FTEs.
Expenditure review
Paulette discussed the fund which pays for long term care of LEOFF 1 members.
Becky outlined the departments under Risk.
Paulette mentioned there is a $100,000 deductible through the risk pool.
Mitchel Townsend asked for clarification on the LEOFF 1 program.
Paulette outlined the process of a tort claim. Paulette said she can approve anything up to $40,000 but
does not have the authority to deny any claims without BOCC input.
Paulette and Becky discussed insurance in relation to Public Disclosure.
Mitchel Townsend asked if there were any specific areas where different procedures could be used to
address claims. Paulette said that the risk pool does provide training.
Tawni goes out twice a year and reviews safety issue with facility staff.
Paulette explained the policies in review for safety issues in the offices.
The Board discussed the expenses related to public disclosures.
