Suzette Smith said vision is bundled with medical under PEBB. Grace said employees who waived health insurance still received vision, dental, life and disability insurance under WCIF. She said roughly 20-30 employees are unclear about what the future holds for them. Grace said she asked if vision could be offered separately. She was told a voluntary program would be available through WCIF at a cost of roughly $9 for an employee, spouse and child. Suzette asked if it would be available to all employees as a deduction. Archie said the board could say, “If you have waived insurance, we will pick up this fee.” The commissioners said the county will pick up vision insurance for employees who have waived insurance and want the coverage. Archie said it will be made available to all employees. Grace said basic life is being left with WCIF. Archie said PEBB’s life insurance rates are quite good. Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, and Commissioner Jackson approved an optional buy-up of life insurance through WCIF for those who wish to continue it. Grace said Superior Court judges have always been on WCIF with the nonrep group. She said the state also pays for them to be on PEBB. The commissioners said the nonreps and electeds are no longer covered by WCIF. They said they cannot extend WCIF coverage to the Superior Court judges. Commissioner Fund and Grace left at 4:39 p.m. Meeting ended at 4:41 p.m.
