Josh Metcalf said he recently met with members of the state-
appointed committee tasked with addressing aviation impacts
and forecasted impacts.
He said the group will identify six potential sites. He said the
group is examining:
• Proximity to Interstate 5
• Acreage
• Utilities
• Zoning
He said the group is looking for both passenger and freight airline service.
Board interested in making a commitment.
Josh noted that the FAA likely will pay for 40 percent to 50 percent of the project.
Josh noted that Olympia and Chehalis are on the list of six, as is Toledo. He said the state has been
directed to identify its preferred potential site by 2021.
The group discussed possible proponents and oppositions to the proposal.
The commissioners directed Josh to schedule a meeting between the commissioners and the members
of the state-appointed committee. They requested that Toledo Mayor Steve Dobosh and Rep. Ed Orcutt
also be invited.
