FOR THE 2020 ROCK PURCHASE
WHEREAS, pursuant to resolution 20-091 a call for bids was issued March 16, 2020, for
the 2020 Rock Purchase; and
WHEREAS, bid quotations have been submitted by the following contractors:

WHEREAS, Lewis County personnel evaluated the bids including haul costs to
determine the most advantageous bid to Lewis County; and
WHEREAS, Good Crushing provided the most advantageous bid for the purchase of
rock for Hyak Rd. and Tune Rd. for a total of $62,515.00. Winston Quarry provided the
most advantageous bid for the purchase of rock for Wilson Rd. for a total of $60,467.50.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the contracts for the 2020 Rock Purchase in
Lewis County be awarded to Good Crushing in the amount of $62,515.00 and Winston
Quarry in the amount of $60,467.50. Upon presentation of such contracts, the County
Engineer is authorized to sign on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners.

Description:
This contract provides for the production, stockpiling, and loading of 3" Minus rock and Crushed
Surfacing Top Course (CSTC) for Lewis County's 3R program. This material purchase will allow Lewis
County crews to complete the 3R programs on three roads, Tune Rd., Hyak Rd., and Wilson Rd. for
the 2020 summer road construction season.
A call for bids was made on March 16, 2020. The project was advertised for two consecutive weeks
in The Chronicle, The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce, and the Lewis County website. The
bidding was divided into 2 different rock categories of 3" rock and CSTC. Good Crushing provided
the most advantageous bid for 3" rock and CSTC for Hyak Rd. and Tune Rd. Winston Quarry
provided the most advantageous bid for 3" rock and CSTC on Wilson Rd.
Resolution approval will award the 2020 Rock Purchase for Hyak Rd. and Tune Rd. to Good
Crushing for a total of $62,515.00. Resolution will also award rock purchase for Wilson Rd. to
Winston Quarry for a total of $60,467.50.
