County Manager Erik Martin said a second case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Lewis County.
He said the county has released a new policy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Erik said the Chamber of Commerce and Lewis County are working to identify supply needs for first
responders. He said he’ll check in with United Way to make the group’s efforts complement United
Way’s efforts.
Jonathan Meyer said the state Supreme Court has said Gov. Inslee’s office has assured it that he will not
issue a shelter in place order during his March 20 press conference or the following day.
Erik said Lee Napier is contracting with an outside source to continue processing permits despite a
vacancy and positions vacant due to illness.
Commissioner Stamper and Commissioner Fund directed Rieva Lester to draft a letter in support of
including forest products personnel as essential industries in the event that Washington moves to a
shelter in place.
Commissioner Fund said she’d like to ask Treasurer Arny Davis about the payment of property taxes
during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Commissioner Jackson made a motion to approve Resolution 20-102.
Resolution 20-102: Approve a grant agreement between the Washington Department of Commerce
(DOC) and Lewis County for Washington State COVID-19 Outbreak Emergency Housing to provide
funding from DOC to address COVID-19 in the homeless.
Commissioner Fund seconded.
Community Health Services & Contracts Coordinator Meja Handlen said the DOC worked quickly to free
up funds to help with hygiene, sanitation and shelters for the homeless. She said the funding available
totals more than $400,600.
Motion passed 3-0.
Commissioner Stamper discussed Twin Transit’s efforts to deliver meals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Daleyn Coleman said she would reach out about holding a blood drive at Lewis County. Joe Clark of Twin
Transit joined at 4:27 p.m. and provided updates on Twin Transit’s deliveries as well as its new routes.
