2020-06-25 BOCC Wrap-Up COVID-19COVID-19 / BOCC Wrap-Up Meeting June 25, 2020 3:01 p.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, County Manager Erik Martin, JP Anderson, John Abplanalp, Dr. Rachel Wood, Matt Matayoshi, Becky Butler, Amber Smith, Gary Fredricks, Wes Rethwill, Lee Napier, Meri Hamre, Annalee Tobey, Scott Smitherman, Lara McRea, Alison Puckett Guests: Various members of the public and press Recorder: Rieva Lester JP Anderson said the county has learned of five new positive cases. John Abplanalp said Lewis County has seen a significant increase in cases. John said only 1 out of the county’s 60 patients has been reluctant to share contact information. John said the average age for patients has decreased dramatically. Dr. Rachel Wood and JP discussed the increase in cases, exposures and contacts. The group discussed what metrics could cause a change in the county’s current Phase 3 rating. The group discussed the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and urged caution. The group also discussed mental health and substance abuse concerns, urging individuals who are struggling to reach out for help. Commissioner Fund discussed the governor’s new guidelines requiring mask use statewide. Dr. Wood discussed the tools individuals can use to stay safe, including washing hands, using sanitizer, avoiding touching their faces, limiting travel, limiting interactions with others, wearing masks, etc. Erik Martin left at 3:39 p.m. Matt Matayoshi discussed the grant the EDC is spearheading on behalf of the county. He said the grants will be $5,000 for businesses that have one to five employees and $10,000 for businesses that have between six and 10 employees. He said the application period will open June 29. Becky Butler said she is working on an agreement with the hospital for testing equipment. The group discussed their calendars. Meeting adjourned at 3:49 p.m.
