LEWIS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
IN THE MATTER OF: RESOLUTION NO. 20-265
APPOINTMENT OF BRIAN THOMPSON AND GARY
GORREMANS TO THE LEWIS COUNTY NOXIOUS
WEED CONTROL BOARD
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Board of County Commissioners
(BOCC) that there is a vacancy on the Lewis County Noxious Weed Board, in Weed
District Two and Three; and
WHEREAS, the term of Brian Thompson of Centralia (District Two), and Gary
Gorremans of Winlock (District Three) expired on March 1, 2020, and said members
have indicated a desire to continue to serve on said Board; and
WHEREAS, the Lewis County Noxious Weed Board conducted the notice and
application process under RCW 17.10.050(2), and recommends these applicants to be
appointed to the Board.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lewis County Board of County
Commissioners hereby appoints Brian Thompson (District Two) and Gary Gorremans
(District Three) to the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board for a term of four
years ending on March 1, 2024.

Notice of Noxious Weed Control Board Vacancy
The Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board currently has an expiration of term
of office on its five-member board. The vacancies occur in: Weed District 2 which
includes the communities of: Galvin, Centralia, & Chehalis and District 3 which
includes the communities of: Napavine,Winlock,Toledo and Vader.
The Board positions are four-year terms that shall be filled by a person engaged in
agricultural practices. Noxious Weed Control Board positions are non-paid,
volunteer positions. Meetings are held as determined by the Board. Duties of the
Board include adoption of the County Weed list and providing direction for Weed
Board programs.
Persons interested in appointment to the Board shall make a written application
that includes the signature of at least ten registered voters also residing within the
district from which they are seeking appointment. Applications will be accepted
until Monday, March 23, 2020 and can be turned into the Weed Board office. After
this date, Noxious Weed Control Board members will forward a recommendation to
the Board of County Commissioners for filling the vacancy.
Applications for appointment to the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board may
be obtained at the Weed Board office, 351 NW North St., Courthouse basement level
or phone (360) 740-1215.

Dear Commissioner Stamper:
The Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board has vacancies on its five-member
board. The vacancies occurs in Weed District Two and Three. Brian Thompson, the
current Board members for District Two and Garry Gorremans of District Three
have expressed a willingness to serve another term with the Weed Board. Both
members'terms ended on March 1, 2020.
The Board member vacancies were published in the Chronicle in February and
March of 2020.
The Weed Board met on July 14, 2020 and recommended that Brian Thompson of
Centralia and Gary Gorremans of Winlock,be considered for appointment by the
BOCC to the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board, representing Weed
Districts Two and Three. Weed Board members serve a four-year term.
