2020-07-28 Update with Lewis County SeniorsUpdate with Lewis County Seniors July 28, 2020 2:06 p.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, County Manager Erik Martin, Becky Butler, Doug Carey, JP Anderson, Carol Brock, Nicole Kiddo, Meja Handlen, Steve Wohld (2:15 p.m.), Ron Averill Guests: Susan DeLaire Recorder: Rieva Lester Glenda Forga outlined the Lewis County Seniors’ Nutrition and Enrichment budgets through July 2020, excluding COVID-19 expenses. Glenda discussed the group’s COVID-19-related revenues and expenses from March 13 through July 28, 2020. Glenda said the Thrift Store was shut down due to COVID-19 and is now operating in the red by roughly $6,300. She said she expects to see the center improve and start seeing a profit by the end of July. Glenda said food supplies are at $145,373 and that non-food supplies, such as trays, etc., are at $37,000. Becky suggested the Lewis County Seniors draft for the commissioners’ review a proposal to purchase or lease transportation and to include: • Options • Potential cost • Planned use • Potential impact Carol Brock outlined steps the group has taken in an effort to secure funding for two vans for purchase. The group discussed the possibility of using federal funding through the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) to purchase vehicles. Glenda said the group served 3,902 meals in March and 21,980 in June. She noted that the group served meals to 339 individuals in March and 722 in June. She noted that service dropped off a little in July as meals returned to a drive-through service. Glenda reviewed a presentation about the COVID-19 program. She noted that Twin Transit will not be able to provide assistance beyond Aug. 1. Glenda said the group’s regular 2020 budget would have been $379,653 and that it’s COVID budget would total $1,182,065. Commissioner Fund left at 2:54 p.m. Steve Wohld left at 2:58 p.m. The group said they would discuss the lease agreement at another time. Becky noted that a meeting to discuss the CDBG CV-1 grant is planned for the following day. Glenda said she has worked with Meja Handlen on FEMA billings. Meeting adjourned at 3:06 p.m.
