WHEREAS, a call for bids for the 2021 Rock Purchase Rebid project was issued
January 21, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Public Works received four bids, and the top three were evaluated to
determine the most advantageous. The top three bid quotations were submitted
as follows:

WHEREAS, Lewis County personnel evaluated the bids including haul costs to
determine the most advantageous bid to Lewis County; and
WHEREAS, Alderbrook Quarry provided the most advantageous bid for 3/8-No 4
Crushed Screening for a total of $575,606.88, and Good Crushing provided the
most advantageous bid for crushed surfacing top course (CSTC) for a total of
$74,718.84.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the contracts for the 2021 Rock
Purchase in Lewis County be awarded to Alderbrook Quarry in the amount of
$575,606.88 and Good Crushing in the amount of $74,718.84. Upon presentation
of such contracts, the County Engineer is authorized to sign on behalf of the
Board of County Commissioners.

NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that the Board of County Commissioners of Lewis County or
designee will open sealed proposals and publicly read them aloud on or after 12:30 P.M. on Thursday,
February 4,2021,at the Lewis County Courthouse in Chehalis,Washington,for the 2021 Rock Proposal
Re-bid. This contract provides for the production,stockpiling,and loading of***crushed screenings

Sealed proposals must be delivered to the Lewis County Commissioners Office(351 N.W. North
Street,Room 209,CMS-01,Chehalis, Washington 98532),by or before 12:30 P.M.on the date specified
for delivery, and in an envelope clearly marked: "SEALED BID FOR THE 2021 ROCK PROPOSAL
RE-BID TO BE OPENED ON OR AFTER 12:30 P.M. ON FEBRUARY 4,2021."
All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in cash,certified check,cashier's check
or surety bond in an amount equal to five percent(5%)of the amount of such bid proposal. Should the
successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish satisfactory performance bond within the
time stated in the specifications,the bid proposal deposit shall be forfeited to the Lewis County Public
Works Department.

This contract provides for the production, stockpiling, and loading of 3/8-No 4 Crushed Screening
and Crushed Surfacing Top Course (CSTC) for Lewis County's 3R program. This material purchase
will allow Lewis County crews to complete the work scheduled for the 2021 3R Program on Guerrier
Road and Fred Plant Road, and to complete maintenance chipsealing on the roads listed in the
2021 Chipseal Program.
A call for bids was made on January 21, 2021 for the 2021 Rock Purchase Rebid project. The project
was advertised for two consecutive weeks in The Chronicle, The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce,
and the Lewis County website. The bidding was divided into 2 different rock categories of 3/8-No 4
Crushed Screening and CSTC. Alderbrook Quarry provided the most advantageous bid for 3/8-No 4
Crushed Screening and Good Crushing provided the most advantageous bid for CSTC.
Resolution approval will award the 2021 Rock Purchase Rebid of 3/8-No 4 Crushed Screening to
Alderbrook Quarry for a total of $575,606.88. Resolution will also award rock purchase of CSTC to
Good Crushing for a total of $74,718.84.
