WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) issued a
call for sealed bids for the printing of legal publications on Feb. 1, 2021; and
WHEREAS, three firms submitted bid packets: The Chronicle, The East County
Journal and The Lewis County News; and
WHEREAS, the bid from the Lewis County News, which was submitted twice, was
rejected as it did not meet the bid specifications; and
WHEREAS, bids from The Chronicle and The East County Journal were opened
during an open public meeting on March 16, 2021; and
WHEREAS, The Chronicle included two options in its bid:
• A standard option mirroring the previous year's agreement with Lewis
County.
• A "technology option" that would allow Lewis County to submit and bids
through an online portal and access published bids through a digital vault
WHEREAS, the bids submitted were as follows:

The first option would keep everything the same,including the price that the BOCC accepted last year. For
this option,The Chronicle is submitting a bid of$3.10 per 1.20 column inch(10 lines)to publish all Lewis
County notices during the year beginning July 1,2021,and ending June 30,2022.
The second option is called the technology option.Within this option,you would have the ability to submit
all legal advertising online through our new portal. If this option is something you choose to move forward
with,all Lewis County departments would have an online digital vault created.All legal ads/documents
will be stored after the ad has run,with the ability to print if necessary.This digital vault could/can be used
as a possible solution for your record retention requirements. The second option would increase your cost
by 10%,but the savings you would see from the reduced printing alone would more than offset the
increase.We would be happy to explain this in more detail.

Dear Commissioners,
The Lewis County News would like to submit a bid of $4.70 per column inch to
publish all Lewis County notices for the year starting July 1, 2021 to June 30,
2022.
The Lewis County News has a large weekly circulation that encompasses 5,327
homes by direct US mail and 1, 433 copies in bulk rack drops for a weekly total
of 6,760. Additionally, with 791,963 hits per month on our free website the
Lewis County News can offer that much more public exposure. Please note the
increase in circulation this year as the Lewis County News has added Centralia
and Chehalis to our circulation territory.
The Lewis County News is operated by Managing Editor Lynnette Hoffman. The
Lewis County News management and editorial contributors have brought renewed
vitality and energy to the pages and we carry a good balance between hard
hitting political news and the softer human-interest work. Always fair and
always balanced. This in turn results in higher readership that gives
advertising and public notices better exposure.
The Lewis County News has been publishing in Lewis County since 1960. With 61
