Rieva Lester discussed a proclamation to Proclaim Oct. 3-9, 2021, as Fire Prevention Week.
Rieva Lester discussed a proclamation to recognize the first week of October as Public Power Week.
JP Anderson discussed a proclamation to declare October 2021 as Disability Employment Awareness
Month.
Mindy Brooks Notice of Public Hearing to consider Ordinance 1330, an ordinance to repeal and replace
Chapter 17.12, Public Participation Program, and amend Chapter 17.05 General Provisions, of the Lewis
County Code.
Erik Martin discussed a notice for a hearing for the Lewis County 2021 budget emergency and
supplemental appropriations to and transfers within current expense and various funds.
Chief Chris Sweet discussed a resolution to approve the purchase of R-Zero ARC UV-C Light touchless
disinfections units for the Lewis County Jail and Juvenile Detention Facility.
Eric Eisenberg, Susie Palmateer and Scott Tinney discussed a resolution to approve a Reimbursement
Agreement with the Administrative Office of the Courts for Extraordinary Costs in Responding to State v.
Blake on the State's Behalf.
Commissioner Swope made a motion to move three presentations, two notice items, two consent items
and two deliberation items to the Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, BOCC agenda.
Commissioner Pollock seconded the motion.
Motion passed 2-0.
COVID-19
JP Anderson said the county has opened at the fairgrounds a COVID-19 testing site for Lewis County
schoolchildren.
Announcements
Matt Jaeger discussed cybersecurity efforts as well as efforts to provide support for the Juvenile
department that’s been shifted to Cowlitz County during the current remodel.
Matt Patana said work continues on demolition and remodels.
Scott Smitherman discussed efforts to pinpoint and resolve a radio disturbance.
Wednesday Workshop
Eric Eisenberg discussed an Office of Public Defense (OPD) reimbursement contract regarding Blake
funding. Eric, Stacy Werner and Susie Palmateer discussed options regarding additional funding.
Commissioner Pollock suggested using the “use-it-or-lose it” funding first. The commissioners directed
staff to determine whether it’s possible to use that pot of money first.
Rieva Lester noted that Timberland Regional Library Executive Director Cheryl Heywood will give her
annual State-of-the-Library presentation / discussion Oct. 5.
Rieva Lester noted that there would be a late add for the Oct. 5 Business Meeting to further ease burn
restrictions.
Erik Martin noted that the meet-n-greet with WSDOT planned for later in the day had been canceled.
