Re: 2022 expenditure increase request for Fund 1040
Funding and request overview
Using an Expanded Lab Capacity Grant from Washington State Department of Health, we would like to expand the duties of our Social Services Manager to develop a Position of Deputy Director
of Operations and Social Services. This recommended adjustment comes after consideration of the challenges facing our department, and an attempt adjust our leadership team structure
to better support staff, and meet the needs of our community. This position will replace many of the duties previously performed by our Office Manager and join our Deputy Director of
Policy and Environmental Health, along with our Director, to solidify our leadership team going forward.
Advantages
Our need for leadership, oversight, process improvements, and long-term planning capacity grows commensurately with the Social Service issues facing our community. As issues such as
housing, behavioral health continue to grow in Lewis County, this position will lead efforts along with our director to support our staff and work closely with community partners as
we face these complicated and multifaceted issues.
Additionally, by clearly articulating the role of Deputy Director of Operations we ensure adequate capacity to facilitate the numerous challenges that come with having a diverse workforce
operating under over 30 individual grants, in three different locations.
Implications of denial
If denied our Department would lack the leadership and administrative capacity needed collaborate effectively among our peers in Lewis County or within our partners in the community
in the years ahead.
Thank you for your consideration of this request,
JP Anderson, MSW
Lewis County Public Health& Social Services, Director
